Chief of Defence of Lithuania participate in the Baltic-Nordic Chiefs of Defence meeting 2012-02-07
![]() February 7, Chief of Defence of Lithuania Lt Gen Arvydas Pocius departs for Stockholm (Sweden) where on February 8 he will participate in the Nordic-Baltic Chiefs of Defence meeting.
In the meetings Lithuanian, Danish, Estonian, Latvian, Norwegian, Finnish and Swedish CHODs will discuss security situation in the Baltic Sea and Arctic region, future international military training events, multinational operations, and points of cooperation in seeking more efficient exploitation of resources. |

Troops of the Motorised Infantry Brigade Iron Wolf participate in international training event in Denmark 2012-02-07
![]() From February 6 to 9 troops of the command staff, battalions and assigned units of the Motorised Infantry Brigade (MIB) Iron Wolf participate in a training event organised by the Danish Division in Haderslev (Denmark). During the training troops improve skills of operational planning in multinational environment and prepare for multinational command post exercise Red Knight to be held in Latvia this March.
Together with 30 Lithuanian military there are participants from the staff of the Danish Division and the staffs of the Estonian, Latvian and Danish brigades affiliated to the Danish Division. |

The main NATO training event held in Vilnius 2012-02-07
![]() February 7, the main NATO training event - NATO Training Synchronization Conference- annually organised in one of the NATO countries by the NATO Supreme Allied Command Transformation (SACT). The opening of the conference was attended by SACT Commander Gen Stephane Abrial, Chief of Defence of the Lithuanian Armed Forces Lt Gen Arvydas Pocius and Chief of Staff of SACT Lt Gen Karlheinz Viereck.
During the opening of the conference Lithuanian Chief of Defence Lt Gen A. Pocius said that successful operation in the mission area requires interoperability with the allies, unified thinking and work which we will achieve through aligned training programmes. "The conference is intended to facilitate the synchronization of training of member countries and cultivation of a unified approach to military training", said the Chief of Defence of Lithuania. |

Air Assault Control Group of the Lithuanian Armed Forces began duty in composition of the Danish Battalion in Afghanistan 2012-02-06
![]() In the beginning of February the second rotation of the Air Assault Control Group (AACG) of the Romualdas Giedraitis Artillery Battalion of the Motorised Infantry Brigade Iron Wolf began service in Afghanistan. Lithuanians will conduct a half-year shift of duty in a Danish Contingent in the province of Helmand, in southern Afghanistan.
Task of Lithuanian AACG is to provide air fire support to units of the Combat Group of the Danish Armed Forces through planning, ordering and operating assault helicopters, unmanned aerial vehicles and aircrafts. The first shift of AACG were deployed to Afghanistan in composition of a Danish Battalion in 2008. |

Annual NATO conference to be held in Lithuania 2012-02-03
![]() From February 7 to 9 the annual NATO Training Synchronization Conference will be organised in Vilnius by the NATO Supreme Allied Command Transformation (SACT). Over 200 representatives of NATO and partner countries are expected to take part in the conference.
The Training Synchronization Conference held in Lithuania will integrate four conferences on the allied exercise and warfare training: the NATO Training and Exercise Planning Conference, the NATO Individual Training and Education Conference, the meeting of the Steering Group NATO Training Group (SGNTG) and the NATO Education Forum. |

German Air Contingent deployed on the Baltic Air Policing mission participated in a commemorative football competition for prosecutor Gintautas Sereika 2012-01-30
![]() January 28, German Air Contingent deployed on the Baltic Air Policing mission took part in a football tournament arranged by the Prosecutor General's Office in Mažeikiai in memory of prosecutor Gintautas Sereika killed in 1999. The team of German troops led by the commander of the air contingent Lt Col Werner Theisen was escorted to the sports event by representatives of the Air Base of the Lithuanian Air Force.
The annual football competition held to tribute the killed prosecutor G. Sereika travels around Lithuania. The six previous events took place in the birth town of G.Sereikia, Klaipėda, and in Panevėžys, Kaunas, Šiauliai, Pakruojis and Marijampolė. |

Chief of Defence of Lithuania on the visit in Poland 2012-01-28
![]() From January 26 to 28 Chief of Defence of Lithuania Lt Gen Arvydas Pocius was conducting a formal visit in Poland.
Meeting in Krakow Lithuanian CHOD and Gen Mieczysław Cieniuch, CHOD and Chief of General Staff of Poland, addressed current matters of bilateral cooperation: military collaboration in the context of the Baltic Region, NATO Air Policing mission over the Baltic States and Poland's perspectives to continue participation in the mission, perspectives of collaboration between the Lithuanian and Polish Special Operations Forces, and the process of formation of the joint Lithuanian-Polish -Ukrainian Brigade LITPOLUKRBRIG. Chief of Defence of Poland invited the Lithuanian Armed Forces to assign special operations capabilities for the Joint Staff of the Special Forces Operational Component being formed in Poland. |

PRT delivered sport inventory for the Sports Department of Ghor 2012-01-25
![]() January 24, commander of the Military Element of the Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT-14) Col Eligijus Senulis and specialists of the PRT's Civil and Military Cooperation paid a visit to the Sports Department of the province of Ghor and delivered a donation of sports inventory: football and volleyball balls, badminton racquets, chess sets, and other sports equipment.
A friendly indoor football match between the PRT personnel and local team so f Chaghcharan was held to mark the delivery. |

Armenian delegation visit the Warfare Training Centre 2012-01-24
![]() January 23, delegation of the Ministry of Defence of Armenia visited the Gen Adolfas Ramanauskas Warfare Training Centre (Vilnius Distr., Nemenčinė).
During the visit the Warfare Training Centre (WTC) was presented to the guests. They were also given an opportunity to familiarize with the Joint Conflict and Tactical Simulation (JCATS) installed at the WTC Computer Simulated Exercise Unit.
JCATS was installed in the WTC in 2005 on the basis of an agreement signed between Lithuania and the United States of America regarding the application of the Joint Conflict and Tactical Simulation in the Lithuanian Armed Forces. |

The fifteenth shift of Lithuanian peacekeepers intensify pre-mission training 2012-01-20
![]() The 15th rotation of the Lithuanian-led Chaghcharan Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT-15) attended a Task Group Course at the Juozas Lukša Training Centre of the Lithuanian Land Force and the Gaižiūnai Training Area from January 9 to 27.
During the course troops are instructed on the nuances of planning tactical tasks on a mission, drill skills of patrolling, contact, base protection, riot suppression and conducting other tasks typical to the mission in Afghanistan. A complex exercise will test the troops' ability to apply the new knowledge in a bigger formation and conclude the course.
Officers of the Public Security Service assist the shift in preparing for the multinational deployment by conducting riot suppression and crowd control drills. Representatives of the Public Security Service will be deployed to the mission region in the province of Ghor as well where they will join the Police Operational Mentoring and Liaison Team (POMLT) training local policemen. |
