The staff of the Mechanised Infantry Brigade Iron Wolf of the Lithuanian Armed Forces has passed the NATO combat readiness test - that is what stated in the official assessment documents signed by representatives of the Lithuanian Armed Forces Defence Staff and NATO's Allied Land Command in Germany after five months of training and three weeks of testing as international Exercise Allied Spirt X is drawing to a close. It is the first evaluation of the staff of the Mechanised Infantry Brigade Iron Wolf conducted according to the NATO Combat Readiness Evaluation System (CREVAL) procedures.

Warships of NATO allies to visit Klaipėda

On April 5-8 warships of our NATO allies will visit Klaipėda Seaport ahead of taking part in historic ordnance disposal exercise in the Baltic Sea DEUSQUADEX 19-1/BALTEX on April 8-10.


On April 5 warship from 8 countries will pier at Klaipėda Seaport for a three-day visit: mine countermeasures ships FGS Weilheim (Germany), FGS Bad Rappenau (Germany), LVA Talivaldis (Latvia), HNoMS Rauma (Norway), ORP Bukowo (Poland), and command and supply ships ir vadovavimo bei logistinio aprūpinimo laivai FGS Rhein (Germany), FGS Donau (Germany) and LVA Virsaitis (Latvia).

On March 30-April 14 military medics with the Lithuanian Armed Forces MD Jonas Basanavičius Military Medical Service are taking part in international medical NATO exercise Vigorous Warrior 2019. Nearly 60 military medics of career and reserve service are deepening their knowledge at the exercise held in Romania.

On April 3 Minister of National Defence Raimundas Karoblis and his counterparts from the Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF) contributing countries discussed deployment of the JEF and tested the decision-making speed and mechanism of JEF mobilisation at a table-top exercise in London. Ministers also discussed the first exercise of the JEF Maritime Component, Baltic Protector, to take place in June.

Lithuanian Land Force troops are training in Exercise Allied Spirit X at Hohenfels Training Area in Germany alongside our allies. The international exercise with roughly 5500 participants from Denmark, U.S., UK, Spain, Italy, Israel, Poland, Lithuania, Moldova, Netherlands, Slovakia, Sweden, Finland, Turkey, and Germany, is organised by the U.S. Army Europe (USAREUR) and will run until April 17.

On March 18-22 soldiers of the NATO enhanced Forward Presence Battalion Battle Group trained live firing at the General Silvestras Žukauskas Training Area. Leopard 2A6 tanks, Marder infantry fighting vehicles, and Fuchs armoured personnel carriers of the German Army were only a part of the equipment the German Contingent in Lithuania used in the training event held to prepare for the exercise the whole NATO enhanced Forward Presence Battle Group will be training in in April.
