PRT-14 conducted joint patrol with local policemen of Ghor 2011-12-08
  December 6, Lithuanian military personnel of Chaghcharan Provincial Reconstruction Team visited Badgah village during a joint patrol with local policemen of Chaghcharan.
Troops and policemen met with local population, senior of the village, took interest in the main problems of life in the village and security situation. Peacekeepers donated to the villagers warm wraps, clothing, kitchenware, school necessities, soccer balls. |

Lithuanian military personnel decorated after mission in Iraq 2011-12-08
 December 7, two servicemembers of the Lithuanian Armed Forces received medals for service in the NATO Training Mission - Iraq (NTM-I) at the Joint Headquarters of the Lithuanian Armed Forces. Chief of the Joint Headquarters Col Vilmantas Tamošaitis presented to Capt Robertas Rudzevičius and MSgt Algimantas Greičaitis the National Defence System of the Republic of Lithuania level medals for Deployment on International Missions.

Base of Chaghcharan Provincial Reconstruction Team - venue for exposition of Afghan national photography 2011-12-05
 On December 3 and 4 an exhibition of photography of local Afghan photographers "New Afghanistan through the eyes of its people" was opened at the base of Chaghcharan PRT. The exposition was open for local people throughout the week. On the weekend the exposition was available for Lithuanian peacekeepers and their colleagues from other countries on the initiative of Head of the Civilian Element Eugenijus Vaicekauskas and PRT Commander Col Eligijus Senulis.
"It is notable that the exhibition is a result of local photographers' creative work therefore it should be really appreciated both by local and international community. No foreign photographer would be able to produce better pictures because you are the best at feeling and knowing your country. It is really wonderful that Afghanistan is improving not only from security but also from artistic perspective, and is gradually becoming more independent", said Commander PRT Col Eligijus Senulis in the opening of the exhibition. |

 4th rotation of the Police Operational Mentoring and Liaison Team on preparation for duty in Afghanistan From November 30 to December 2 LITHAF Military Police arranged meeting of Lithuanian and US staffs of the Police Operational Mentoring and Liaison Team (POMLT-4) that begins training before deployment in Ghor, province of Afghanistan. In the meeting the main combat training events, were discussed and points of logistic provision addressed with attendance of representatives of the US Pennsylvania National Guard, US Army Europe Command (USAREUR), US Embassy in Lithuania, the Lithuanian Joint Headquarters and Military Police. |

Concept development conference for Combined Endeavor 2012 takes place in Lithuania 2011-12-05
 From December 5 to 9 Lithuania will host the concept development conference for communications interoperability exercise Combined Endeavor 2012 involving approximately 150 representatives from 35 countries and organisations.
Combined Endeavor (CE) is a U.S. European Command-sponsored, multinational initiative intended to encourage interoperability and information exchange among nations. "In1996 Lithuania joined the exercise with only several manually operated field switches. This September our specialists deployed the brigade-level telecommunications network providing all the necessary services", spoke Chief of the Joint Headquarters Col Vilmantas Tamošaitis about the benefit of the 17th exercise to communications and information systems (CIS) of the Lithuanian Armed Forces in the opening of the concept development exercise on December 5. |

Lithuanians succeed in Men's Military International Basketball Tournament at SHAPE 2011-12-03
 Lithuanian basketball team won their second and third victories at the Men's Military International Basketball Tournament at the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) in Belgium. They defeated the UK team at the result 67-58 and Poland's team 82-58.
Basketball players from the National Defence Volunteer Forces (1st Territorial Unit, Dainava Military District) coached by Pte M. Jaruševičius secured a position among the first four. |

Decorations bestowed on Lithuanian peacekeepers after the mission in Afghanistan 2011-11-29
November 29, official homecoming and decorations ceremony was held in the Freedom Square of Panevėžys for the 13th rotation of the Lithuanian-led Provincial Reconstruction Team of Ghor province, Afghanistan, the 2nd shift of the Police Operational Mentoring and Liaison Team (POMLT-2), and military personnel who served across the international NATO headquarters in Afghanistan.
Vice Minister of National Defence Vytautas Umbrasas and Chief of Defence of Lithuania Lt Gen Arvydas Pocius bestowed medals for International Operations on the peacekeepers during a celebratory formation, signed combat flag of the Mindaugas Battalion with a silver-plated insignia and a plaque marking that the flag flew in Afghanistan from April to November of 2011 while PRT-13 ensured peace and security in Ghor province, Afghanistan, a part of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF). Medals and certificates of commendation were presented to some of the returning troops for distinguished and professional service and excellent and resourceful completion of tasks. |

Guests from the Baltic Defence College paid a visit to the Šiauliai Air Base 2011-11-25
 November 24, a group of lecturers and students of the Baltic Defence College (BALTDEFCOL) paid a visit to the Šiauliai Air Base of the Lithuanian Air Force (LITHAF). The guests were led by BALTDEFCOL Commandant Brig Gen Meelis Kiili and Course Director Col Andrej Boičišin (Lithuanian Armed Forces).
The guests listened to addresses by the commander of the Danish Air Contingent and representatives of the Air Base and viewed facilities and equipment of the base. They also met with representatives of the Royal Danish Air Force currently conducting the Baltic Air policing mission and viewed their F-16 fighters. |

EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region was represented at a session at the Headquarters of the Lithuanian Navy 2011-11-25
 November 25, a presentation sitting of the European Union's Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region was held at the Headquarters of the Lithuanian Navy (LITHNAVY) in Klaipėda on the initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The session was attended by the 13th Priority Area Coordinator of the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region Bjarke Wiehe Bøtcher (Denmark), representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of National Defence, Ministry of Communication, Ministry of Environmental Protection and others as well as subordinate institutions.

 Today we mark the 93rd anniversary of the establishment of the Lithuanian Armed Forces. The deeds and spirit of our ancestors inspire warriors of this day. The lyrics of the National Anthem are still calling for ladling strength from our ancient history.
Lithuanian army has been famous as battle-seasoned over ages. People used to sacrifice their lives for the freedom of their country without being demanded to in the hope that they were serving for their country, their people and their Motherland. War history of Lithuania proves that our freedom has not come for free and that we are worth it. |
