World Military Basketball championship 2009

  49th World Military Basketball Championship

From June 6 to 15 Klaipėda will host the 49th World Military Basketball Championship with over 200 participants from 10 countries:

Greece, Italy, the United States of America, Kazakhstan, China, Cyprus, the Republic of Korea, Latvia, Lithuania, and Germany.

Teams for the championship will be selected according to their results achieved in the last ten years.

It is the sixth time team of the Lithuanian Armed Forces will take part in the World Military Basketball Championship. Lithuanians won silver medals in last two championships. We expect our nationals to rise to the highest step of the stand in this year's championship. Besides, we have the great event organised in our native country, and they say that even walls help you when you are at home.

Lithuanian Armed Forces has the honor to organise a sports event as big as the World Military Basketball Championship in Lithuania for the sixth time: world championships of handball, orientation sport (twice), wrestling and modern pentathlon have already been held.

Participants of the games will be accommodated in the National Defence Volunteer Force Lithuanian Grand Duke Butigeidis Dragoon Training Battalion in Klaipėda. Team will meet on the floor of Neptūnas Sports Arena.

June 8-12, matches of subgroups;

June 13 - semi-finals;

June 14, 16.00 - finals.
