Joint Staff of Lithuanian Armed Forces
Joint Staff of Lithuanian Armed Forces is a structural part of Lithuanian Armed Forces subordinate to the Chief of Defence of Lithuania.
Joint Staff is responsible for ensuring effective operational lead of operational capabilities of Lithuanian Armed Forces (further referred to as operational capabilities) under it and effective conduct of military operations.
Tasks of the Joint Staff are as follow:
- To draft plans for military operations as well as lead and sustain military operations in Lithuania and abroad following decisions of military command;
- To plan and conduct joint international exercising and exercises of Lithuanian Armed Forces following decisions of strategic command;
- To coordinate activity and control combat readiness of Lithuanian Armed Forces and separate military units;
- To coordinate and control combat readiness of Lithuanian Armed Forces;
- To coordinate participation of Lithuanian Armed Forces military units in the programmes of military cooperation following decisions of strategic command;
- To prepare doctrines and manuals of tactics for joint capabilities of Lithuanian Armed Forces, branches of Armed Forces and functional departments.
