Headquarters
On 11 October 2001, Statistic Department of the Lithuanian Republic has registered Land Forces (hereinafter referred to as "LF") Command of the Lithuanian Armed Forces. Therefore October 11th is the foundation date of the LF command. On 19 November 2001, the Minister of the National Defense by order has approved the LF insignia; at the end of 2002 LF headquarters has moved to the bigger premises.
Land Forces Chief of Staff, deputies Chief of Staff, and staff sections comprise LF headquarters.

Land Forces Chief of Staff heads the Land Forces Staff; deputies Chief of Staff coordinate appointed functional areas:
• Administration of personnel and military units;
• Development of military capabilities and activity planning;
• Resource management;
• Organization of command and control.
Deputies Chief of Staff organize, coordinate and control all process of the military development and implementation in LF. Deputies Chief of Staff are responsible for activity organization in their functional areas, and control of the assignment fulfillment at the subordinate sections. Functional area experts of the LF headquarters prepare and ensure orderly and regular situation assessment. Situation assessment is based on the tasks, factors and conditions analysis and on grounded alternative course of action.
