Mechanized Infantry Brigade "Iron Wolf" (MIB IW)


Mechanized Infantry Brigade "Iron Wolf" is a unit of the Land Forces of the Lithuanian Armed Forces.


The command of the Mechanized Infantry Brigade "Iron Wolf" and its elements are deployed in the central part of Lithuania, in Rukla town, Jonava district.


Mechanized Infantry Brigade "Iron Wolf" consists of command, its elements and four battalions: three mechanized infantry battalions (Lithuanian Grand Duke Algirdas, Lithuanian Grand Duke Kęstutis, Lithuanian Duke Vaidotas) and General Romualdas Giedraitis artillery battalion. The battalions are deployed in Rukla and Tauragė.


Soldiers of the brigade continually participate in exercises of various levels in Lithuania and abroad, contribute to execution of the NATO-led multinational operation in Afghanistan. Units of the brigade prepare for the defence of the country and peace time operations in Lithuania. On the rotation basis units of the brigade conduct stand-by periods in NATO Response Force (NRF) and European Union Battle Group (EU BG).
