Lithuania's NATO and the EU membership, integration into the Euro-Atlantic military structures and the transformation of the Lithuanian Armed Forces related to the abandonment of compulsory military service necessitated a military training reform in the Lithuanian Armed Forces. A project of the Land Force Training Center of joining different training institutions
- the Military Engineering School, the Reconnaissance School and the APC M113 Training Section of the Training Regiment
- into one unit was initiated in 2009. On the 14th of December of 2010 the LF TC was established and started functioning as a unit of the LF HQ.
