NDVF 6th Territorial Unit of Prisikėlimo Military District Šiauliai

1st of June 1991 by the Director of National Defence General Department establishing the SKAT district teritorial defence unit. Rimantas Jurgaitis was appointed as a commander of the unit. 1st of December in 1991 to Rimantas Jurgaitis  given ensign degree.

In order to commemorate the Liberation Movement of Lithuania partisan district titles, on 15th of January 1999 by the order of the Minister of the National Defence Republic of Lithuania No. 64 Siauliai district teritorial defence unit was named as the  6th Territorial Unit of Prisikėlimo Military District.

29 of September 2006, 6th Territorial Unit of Prisikėlimo Military District was reorganized. 3 of October 2011 officialy was established, 6th Territorial Unit of Prisikėlimo Military District, for the purpose of rational management of subordinate units. saving of human and material resources. Also there will be more effective organization of combat training. Egidijus Budraitis was appointed as a major of 6th Territorial Unit of Prisikėlimo Military District.

The territorial unit has added National Defence Volunteer Force. It has become one of the six units, located throughout the territory of Lithuania. Today 6th Territorial Unit of Prisikėlimo Military District plans and conducts volunteer servicemen training, augments regular Armed Forces units with soldiers. The unit also conducts peace time tasks under the provision of the legal acts.

The unit is formed from volunteers and professional soldiers. Currently serving team of about 600 volunteers and about 60 professional service personnel and civilian employees.
