NDVF 8th Territorial Unit Didžioji Kova Military District, Vilnius
National Defence Volunteer Forces 8th Military District founded in 1991. The officialy day of foundation is 1st of March, when the first manning list was aproved.
In 23th of Novenber of 1992 the Combat Coulors was granted to the NDVF 8th Military
District.

In 15th of January of 1999 the official name of Didžiosioji Kova Military district was granted to the Military District.
Nowadays NDVF Didžioji Kova 8th Military District consist of HQ, 9 infantry and 4 specialised companies in Vilnius, Ukmergė, Utena, Trakai, Anykščiai, Zarasai, Molėtai, Ignalina and Švenčionys. About 1200 volunteers and 70 profesional soldiers are serving in the Military District.
The main task of the Military District is to train solders of professional service, volunteer service and solders of active reserve for the territorial defense and fulfillment of general military tasks.
