International cooperation is one of the most significant priorities of Lithuanian Navy.
As a part of NATO, our navy specializes in the area of MCM operations. Lithuanian ships are constantly assigned to Standing NATO Mine Countermeasures Group 1 (SNMCMG 1) and the NATO Response Force (NRF).
Another example of international cooperation is Baltic Mine Countermeasure Squadron (BALTRON). Each Baltic country appoints ships and staff for a certain period of time. The major task of BALTRON is to conduct MCM operations and train in modern surface warfare and prepare units for NATO missions.
Lithuanian Navy actively participates in various international mine clearance operations: OPEN SPIRIT, MCOPLIT, MCOPLAT and MCOPEST, as well as other exercises, such as: MCMSQEX, BALTOPS, AMBER SEA and NORTHERN COAST.
