Training and Doctrine Command
Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) is an integral part of the Lithuanian Armed Forces (LAF), established in particular to train soldiers able to conduct military tasks - by implementing military training policy in the National Defence System (NDS).
The main TRADOC objectives are to conduct individual training of soldiers of the LAF and organize personnel training of the NDS, to develop doctrine documents of the LAF in the military field, to support military units of the LAF with collective training, to supply with training areas, simulation systems and training objects, to supervise implementation of provisions of documents regulating evaluation of collective training and combat readiness of military units.
TRADOC consists of TRADOC Staff (Doctrine Division, Individual Training Division, Collective Training Division, Lessons Learned Division, English Language Testing Division, G1, G2/5, G4/6), Division General Stasys Raštikis Lithuanian Armed Forces School, the Great Lithuanian Hetman Jonušas Radvila Training Regiment, and General Adolfas Ramanauskas Combat Training Centre.
The Great Lithuanian Hetman Jonušas Radvila Training Regiment. The Training Regiment prepares active reserve of the LAF, upcoming soldiers of professional military service and guarantees the activity of Gaižiūnai Training Area - depending on demand of the LAF. The Training Regiment is the gateway to join Lithuanian Armed Forces. Civilians may start their military service and get an initial military training according to BMT programme there. It is granted to citizens of the Republic of Lithuania to prepare for the voluntary state defense. Military draftees who do not intend to serve in the military service after completion of the twelve-week BMT programme get a credit of mandatory initial military service and are recorded as military reserve.
The freshmen cadets of the Military Academy also get the initial military training in the Training Regiment.
Division General Stasys Raštikis Lithuanian Armed Forces School. The Lithuanian Armed Forces School's purpose is preparation of soldiers (sailors), NCOs and military specialists (including officers), such as signalmen, IT specialists, logistics specialists, drivers etc., that are required in all branches of the Lithuanian Armed Forces, - in career and specialty courses. The Lithuanian Armed Forces School also prepares soldiers from other countries. Kazlų Rūdos Training Centre is subordinate to the Lithuanian Armed Forces School.
General Adolfas Ramanauskas Combat Training Centre. The Combat Training Centre develops, organizes and conducts military combat training; individual soldier training for international operations, allows training of the Lithuanian military units, organizes and conducts in-service training of civil servants, civilians working under contacts. Pabradės Training Area is subordinate to the Combat Training Centre.
