Baltic Piranha 2016
Exercise Baltic Piranha 2016 training full spectrum military tasks takes place in Lithuania throughout October. The exercise involves over 1 thousand soldiers from Belgium, Lithuania and the United States, NH90 Caiman helicopters of the Belgian Air Component used for air support, and over 220 other military vehicles brought by the Belgian troops. Military operations of the exercise are executed in the districts and military training areas of Klaipėda, Kaunas, Vilnius, Utena, Švenčionys, and Panevėžys.
Baltic Piranha 2016 is the second exercise in the series held in Lithuania: it trains participants conduct offensive, defensive, and peacekeeping operations, and urban warfare.
Lithuanian soldiers training together with the rotational Belgian and US forces are from the Lithuanian Grand Duke Kęstutis Motorised Infantry Battalion and the National Defence Volunteer Force. The opposing force is played by a group of soldier from the Grand Duchess Birutė Uhlan Battalion, Juozas Vitkus Engineer Battalion and the National Defence Volunteer Force.
